for accreditation of Certification Bodies
for Food Safety Management Systems
Executive Agency „Bulgarian Accreditation Service” (EA BAS) provides accreditation of Certification Bodies carrying out certification against ÁÄÑ EN ISO 22000 „Food safety management systems - Requirements for any organization in the food chain (ISO 22000:2005)” of Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS), in compliance with the requirements of ÁÄÑ EN ISO/IEC 17021 „Conformity Assessment. Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems (ISO/IEC 17021:2006)” in combination with ISO/TS 22003 „Food Safety Management Systems - Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of food safety management systems”.
In relation to the publication of EA Guidance 3/11 „Food Safety Management Systems – Scope of Accreditation” in May 2009, which is mandatory for accreditation bodies, respectively for the accredited Certification Bodies, EA BAS determines the following policy for transition to application of the guidance requirements:
After 01.01.2010
- the accreditation candidates such as FSMS Certification Bodies will be required to declare that they have at least one active application for each category for which they apply, as well as a competent auditor for at least one sector under a category.
The applied scope for accreditation shall be according to categories and sectors, in compliance with the requirements outlined in EA Guidance 3/11.
- EA BAS will perform assessments for initial accreditation and re-accreditation in compliance with the requirements of EA Guidance 3/11.
- All accredited Certification bodies shall adjust their activity to be in conformity with the requirements of EA Guidance 3/11. The conformity will be subject to assessment during planned surveillance.
